Former HVAC Technician · 10+ years field experience

I spent over a decade working as an HVAC technician — servicing furnaces, air conditioning units, thermostats, and ventilation systems in homes of all sizes and ages. I’ve crawled through attics in July and basements in January, diagnosed everything from a clogged filter to a failing heat exchanger, and explained the same radiator gurgle to hundreds of homeowners who just wanted to understand what was happening in their house.

What I noticed over the years is that most comfort problems aren’t mysteries. They follow recognizable patterns. The same symptoms show up again and again — a room that never heats evenly, an AC that runs but doesn’t really cool, humidity that stays stubbornly high no matter what you do. And most of the time, a homeowner who understands what’s likely happening can either fix it themselves in ten minutes or walk into a service call knowing exactly what to ask.

That’s why I started HomeComfortTips.

After leaving field work, I wanted to put everything I learned into a resource that’s actually useful for non-technical people. Not repair manuals. Not HVAC textbooks. Just clear, honest guides that help you recognize what’s going on, understand whether it’s serious, and decide what to do next.

What You’ll Find Here

Every guide on this site is built around real symptoms — the kind of things people actually search for at 10pm when something feels off at home. The topics I cover:

  • Heating systems & furnaces
  • Air conditioning problems
  • Thermostat issues
  • Indoor airflow & room comfort
  • Humidity & ventilation
  • When to call a pro

The goal is always the same: give you enough context to understand the situation, run a few safe checks yourself, and know when it’s genuinely time to call a professional.

Important note: HomeComfortTips is an informational resource. The guides here are meant to help you understand and diagnose common problems — not to replace licensed HVAC service. For anything involving gas lines, electrical components, or refrigerant, please consult a qualified technician. Some things are genuinely worth a professional visit, and I’ll always tell you when that’s the case.
